FAQs
What is Virtual Photography?
Virtual photography utilizes 3D modeling technology to create images that resemble images taken using traditional photography.
This technology is also referred to as CGI (Computer Generated Imagery).
3D modeling is a virtual photoshoot using computer software.
Things that might be required for a traditional photoshoot such as camera, lighting, location, props etc. can be done virtually using 3D modeling software.
What are the advantages of using Virtual Photography?
Stunning professional product images for online store, social media and online marketing.
Reduced overhead and cost.
The results can be indistinguishable.
Increased freedom and flexibility
How does it work?
A 3D model for a product is created using software or by obtaining a pre-built model from a variety of 3D asset libraries.
Based on your product, branding and packaging information, 3D materials and textures are created and applied to the model, so it looks just like a real-life product.
Then the model is staged. This is a virtual photoshoot. 3D modeling software is designed to emulate real-life physics so the composition and lighting look authentic. The backgrounds can be created virtually, or you can create a background based on a photograph.
Once the 3D model is created it can be reused to create a variety of different scenes where with traditional photography it may require multiple photoshoots.
You can update the materials and textures for an existing model to reflect updated branding or a new product.
